Voices of poets from the 22 countries adjoining the European Union come together for this evening. They approach Europe from differing nations, cultures and perspectives. What role does Europe play in the lives of the citizens of our neighbour countries? How does the idea of Europe currently manifest itself outside the European Community? In their artistic statements these poets shed light on their realities and hopes, their dreams and utopias in connection with Europe and look at the consequences of its possible collapse. What version of the future of Europe is emerging as our neighbours see it? Would this reality create an atmosphere of liberation or of fear? In their texts the writers create an atmosphere full of hope as they imagine various variants of the future, writing about for instance people able to travel anywhere free of walls and borders, about a fragile jigsaw puzzle which is only part of the picture without the rest of the world and about a river which stops flowing at the border.
The poems are available in English and German.
The event Poetry Talk Just a Word, Europe takes place on the 19th of June a 5.30 pm
